Clean-Up Project
Once again, Troop 520 stepped up to help improve Little Wall Lake. They braved the wind and cool temps to clear tires, bottles, cans, plastic and other trash from the south shore. As a member organization of the Friends of Little Wall Lake, they invited area residents to join them in this volunteer effort.
This is the second time in the past year that this great group of volunteers have worked to clean up the shore. On Saturday, August 18, 2012 they spent the day cleaning up the garbage that surfaced due to low water levels. Collecting submerged tires and other garbage not only improves the aesthetics of the lake, but also removes hazards for wildlife and improves water quality.
A big thanks to these volunteers who are responsible for cleaning the public areas of the entire southern and eastern shores.
Enhance Hamilton County Foundation Award!
The Friends of Little Wall Lake received a grant award of $6,750 to support pumping and restore water levels in Little Wall Lake. EHCF Board members presented the award to Jim Richardson, Allyson Walter and Jane Todey in a ceremony in Webster City on April 29, 2013. Jim is President of the Prairie Rivers of Iowa Foundation Board. Prairie Rivers is partnering with the Friends to act as their 501(c)3 agent as required for this grant. Jim also serves on the Hamilton County Conversation Board.
Despite recent delays in pumping, both the EHCF and Prairie Rivers will continue to support this project until issues are resolved.

2002 Dredging Project
The lake was dredged during the summer of 2002. While this project increased the overall depth of the lake, the water lost during this process left the lake unusable. Local volunteers purchased a 3-phase pump and installed a system to draw water from a local stream into the dredge spoil site. From there, water runs through a series of filters to prevent rough fish from entering the lake. The result was a lake ideal for public recreation, water sports, fishing, hunting, plus a secluded wildlife refuge located in the spoil site.
